JUST Space is a conceptual framework and multidisciplinary strategy for leadership and community development. It is important for us to curate JUST Space, because the spaces we occupy are not just space. These spaces are not only our physical surroundings, they include the attitudes and ethos that exists within them; where the intangible humanity of individuals and groups invariably exist. The symbolic image of JUST on the cover of this book represents the work; a waving flag that serves as a meaningful logo for patriotism and pride. The root word of justice, jus — Latin, meaning sanctioned or ordained, signifying law or a right, — is raised to denote that we all deserve and have the right to justice, and a fingerprint indicating the appreciation for unique epistemological fingerprints (i.e. thoughts, feelings, understandings, beliefs, values). It is my intent that this conceptual framework be used to build deeper community across metaphorical borders of difference; that it become a transformational relationship that personifies the humanity in ourselves and others.
